Chris Bushe RSW: Wind, Wave, Rock and Sand: New Paintings of Islay, Mull and Iona
"The act of painting these remarkable landscapes is for me a life-enhancing experience and I would hope that in some small way the paintings can elicit a similar response in the viewer."
"This new series of recent paintings continues an abiding fascination and passion I have for the islands of the Hebrides and especially of Islay, Mull and Iona. I first visited and painted them over 20 years ago and have kept going back year after year drawn by their extraordinary beauty and wildness. In particular it is the Atlantic side of these islands where powerful seas and winds shape and sculpt their coastlines that provides me with an endless source of inspiration. It always brings me both a sense of joy and wonder at being able to spend time walking, drawing and painting on these special islands and my work is a direct response to those feelings and their unique coastlines."- Chris Bushe RSW
