Jayne Stokes, like many other people takes endless snapshots of the journeys she makes. Painting is a tool which enables her to study the landscape in more depth. Stokes feels "a photograph takes a fleeting moment whereas a painting can take hours, weeks and sometimes months to create." Her paintings capture the depth of textures and colour as layer upon and layer of paint is applied and manipulated.
Jayne Stokes studied Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art and has exhibited nationally. She is a professional member of the Society of Scottish Artists.
