"Whether her subject is of people, landscape or a bowl of flowers in front of a window, the underlying purpose is the same: the energy of nature finds its equivalence in sweeps and scribbles of paint, shapes and colours which together encompass a myriad of feelings."

Brita Granström was born in Sweden in 1969 and graduated in 1994 from Konstfack in Stockholm. She has lived and worked in the UK since 1994 as both artist and illustrator. Her Nordic roots are evident in her paintings of wild, all-weather landscapes made around her seaside home. However Granström is also known for her depictions of delicious interior views and tender domestic moments drawn from her own everyday life that resonate with Intimism - the early 20th Century art movement epitomised by Vuillard and Bonnard.

As well as exhibiting at the Open Eye Gallery in Edinburgh Brita exhibits with galleries in London and Aldeburgh. Her work can be found in private and public collections including The Ruth Borchard Collection and she has frequently appeared on both TV and radio.
