Important Alasdair Gray Painting on Exhibition

The Open Eye Gallery is pleased to have started working with acclaimed Scottish artist and writer Alasdair Gray. We are currently exhibiting this important, early panel painting, A Charm against Serpents. Painted in 1962, almost 20 years before the publication of his first novel, Lanark, the work comprises a collage of nine panels which Gray has described as ‘all improvised for fun’. Gray's experience as a muralist is clear in the epic scale of the fantastical composition.

This is a rare opportunity to view the significant work in Edinburgh. The painting will be on show until 30 October.
