Graeme Wilcox

About the artist - Graeme Wilcox

Graeme Wilcox is a figurative painter from the west coast of Scotland. In his work, he seeks to realise a set of contradictions; the figure is present yet absent, moving yet still.

Graeme Wilcox attended Glasgow School of Art between 1989 and 1993 studying Fine Art Printmaking. After graduation, he continued practice as a painter in Glasgow. His subjects include the figure in motion, underwater or asleep and a series of anonymous portraits. He has had many solo exhibitions in London and Edinburgh and shows regularly with the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, the Royal Scottish Academy, Visual Arts Scotland and the Aberdeen Artists open exhibitions, winning several prizes. In recent years, a renewed interest in portraiture has led him to show in the BP Portrait Award 2012 and the Royal Portrait Society in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2011 he completed a prestigious portrait commission for the newly opened Conway Hall in London. Wilcox’s oil paintings are held in private and public collections worldwide.
