About the artist - Diana Hope

Diana Hope is an Edinburgh based artist, tutor and arts journalist who creates bright landscapes reminiscent of her childhood spent in rural Aberdeenshire.

Diana Hope was born in Aberdeenshire and studied Illustration and Design at Edinburgh College of Art. From 1988 to 2005 she taught art at Edinburgh Academy and is a visiting lecturer at Leith School of Art and Edinburgh College of Art. She has exhibited regularly with the Open Eye Gallery since 1999 and is a regular exhibitor with Society of Scottish Artists, Visual Art Scotland, Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour and the Royal Scottish Academy. Her recent paintings of bright landscapes seek not to copy nature, but explore the intensity of experience and the act of memory. She has been President of Visual Arts Scotland and a member of the Society of Scottish Artists. Hope's work is held in private and public collections across Europe.
